Science Center Classrooms

Every single classroom and seminar room in the Science Center (except the Auditorium) got some sort of upgrade this summer. Some rooms needed new everything and some only needed certain parts. Every room has all parts that are no older than 4 years old now. Prior to this project we had rooms that hadn't been touched since the building opened over ten years ago.

The plan is to replace everything in the Auditorium in early January before the Spring 2022 semester. In this upgrade we will be adding cameras like we have in the Board Room and making it so the room microphone system ties into the PC so that if you Zoom from the Auditorium you don't need an OWL camera. You'll just use the cameras and microphones built into the room.

Windows 10

This is actually a reiteration of an update from Spring 2021 but because not everyone worked on campus last Spring we're repeating it.

Our Windows 10 computers use what's called a "user profile." You will need to sign in to the computer. Use your Wilson username (without @wilson.edu) and password.
- The first time you log in to a computer, it will load the "computer policies." Once it automatically opens Teams, we'd like you to restart. The 2nd login will load your "user profile" and may take a little while. The second time you login, you will see that the background on the desktop changes to Wilson blue. To save yourself time on the first day of class, perhaps you could go take care of this in each room you'll be teaching in the week before if possible. We do apologize for the inconvenience.
- Back when we didn't have these profiles, you may remember that every time you restarted the computer that the computer refreshed and anything that you had saved was gone. This is no longer the case. With your profile, you'll be able to access your office 365 one drive and the computer will also remember certain settings that you change. For example, if you change which speaker is the default speaker then it will remember that the next time you sign in.
- Very Important: Now that you need to sign in to the computer, you must remember to sign out when you are finished. If the person before you forgot to sign out, please sign them out so you can sign in as yourself. If you get to the login screen and it shows someone else's account, look for a "sign in as another user" option.

OWL Cameras

We are leaving the OWL cameras in place this semester in case just in case COVID comes back in a big way or in case you have students that need to quarantine for one reason or another. Beyond this semester we'll need to discuss the best way to utilize the OWLs.

Proctorio

Due to the college going back to "business as usual" as much as we can, we've dropped our number of Proctorio licenses from 900 down to 500 with the anticipation that less classes will be online and less faculty will be requiring online proctoring. So please only turn on Proctorio for your course if you truly need to use it.

In the Speedgrader you can add comments to your library and then you'll be able to reuse those comments easily.
