Single Sign-On

Single sign-on is a system where you only need to log in once to be logged into all of Wilson's systems. For example, you could log into Canvas and then in a new tab go to the Portal and it will automatically log you in to the portal because you already logged into Canvas.

Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication is used by many organizations when you log in. Many banks, Amazon, Google, etc. allow you to use MFA, and it is much more secure than not using it. Think of your password as the 1st factor of making sure you are who you say you are. The text message, app code, or phone call you will set up (see instructions below) is a 2nd way for the system to know you are who you say you are. That way, if someone gets your password, it is harder for them to log into your account.

What You Need to Do

Reset Password

Go to https://www.office.com and click on "Sign in."

Note* If you have a Microsoft account with another school or institution, it may try to sign you in automatically to that account. To avoid this, it can be easier to use a separate browser, or use a private browser session while accessing Wilson College sites.

Use your FULL Wilson email address WITH @wilson.edu in it. Any time you see this sign in screen, you will need to include @wilson.edu.
Click the “Forgot Password” link.
We have already provided the system with your recovery email address and mobile number.
Solve the Captcha and click Next.
Choose one of the verification methods (Email, Text, or Call), enter the required information, and click Next.
The system will send a verification number or call that method.
Once successful it will then verify the second method.
You will then be prompted to create a new password.

The Password requirements for Wilson College are a password with a minimum length of 12 characters.
Password complexity is not required, but it is highly recommended.
The password should be different than anything you use on any other site.
We recommend the use of a “Pass Phrase” such as “1LikeBlue$kies” that is easier to remember.

You must expand the Acceptable Use Policy to read it, then click “Accept” to accept the Terms of Use.

In the future the system will use one of these additional authentication factors when you log in.

You also have the option of using the free Microsoft Authenticator mobile application as an authentication method.

We highly suggest using the mobile app because it can work through WiFi and is not as dependent on cellular reception. You can download the Microsoft Authenticator app from the app store, play store, or from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security/mobile-authenticator-app

* NOTE: This can be changed later if you end up not liking the method you choose the first time. Click here to view instructions for changing your MFA settings.

Changing Your Password

If the system ever tells you to change your password, it will lead you through prompts where you will need to put in your old password and type a new password. This is the same as many other systems you have probably used.
If you would like to change your password on your own, you must do the following:

Log in to office.com
Click on your initials in the top right of the screen.
Click on "My Account"
Click on "Security & Privacy"
Click on "Password: Change Your Password." This will open a new tab or window. You then put in your old password and select a new password.
